Seven Personal Prayers that will Grow Your Spirit

Devotional praying asks the Lord for maturing our own spiritual inner life

Personal prayer seems to be the most neglected of all Christian duties, which is unfortunate because private prayer is the true measure of a Christian’s walk before God and ‘the pith and marrow of practical Christianity’.

Personal prayer, or devotional praying—leads to the new birth, strengthens faith, moves mountains, and promotes spiritual growth and contentment that rises above circumstances.

This private praying is asking God to break forth in us what He wants for us. He wants us to bear the fruit of the Spirit, walk in His Wisdom, be mature in Christ, operate in serving others using His gifts, and stand on His Word.

On the other hand, prayerlessness is the broad road leading to Hell for the unbeliever and the major cause of backsliding in the Christian.

What is the reason that some believers are so much brighter and holier than others? I believe the difference, in nineteen cases out of twenty, arises from different habits about private prayer. I believe that those who are not eminently holy pray little, and those who are eminently holy pray much.
