Stay Vigilant and Keep Praying
Three priorities topping our to pray list right now as we stay alert and seek the Lord on His throne
You have prayed long, you have prayed hard, and you are to be commended. But now is not the time to rest from our prayers, for the battle is won, but the war rages on. So, fellow intercessors, I encourage you, do not grow weary, nor grow comfortable, for the foe does not sleep.
Press in to God, and occupy a place before his throne and mercy seat from your prayer closet.
There are important things we need to pray for. First, we pray for God's people. We also pray for the gospel to reach those who don't believe, and we ask for more people to be saved by Christ.
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful, as you pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may declare it clearly, as I should.
Act wisely toward outsiders, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
Colossians 4:2-6
Let's start by praying for God's people.
Be thankful and remember all the good things God has done in our lives, our families, our churches, and our country. Before asking for new blessings today, thank Him for yesterday's mercies.
Pray for strength to do kingdom work. Seek His favor, guidance, and power. Ask for courage and no fear during dark times because even though the light shines, the enemy is still active.
And pray to be watchful, alert and awake. The enemy prowls, so do not be caught sleeping but in keeping your lamps full of oil.
Next, pray for the gospel to reach non-believers.
Many people—at least 67 million in the U.S.—do not believe in Jesus Christ—or know a wrong version of it. Pray that the true gospel reaches them. Ask for boldness for all believers to share God's kingdom truth. Pray that we speak this truth with patience, clarity, and love.
As it says in 2 Thessalonians 3:1-2, pray God's word spreads quickly across the land. May God correct those who are in opposition, and perhaps grant them repentance so they may know the truth. (2 Timothy 2:24-26)
Pray also for whenever we open our mouth, words may be given to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which we are ambassadors. Pray to proclaim it fearlessly, as Paul sought to do (see Ephesians 6:19-20)
Also, pray for more people to be saved.
Ask God to open doors and hearts so those who were closed off can be open to His message. Ask the Lord to open doors, hearts and understanding that they might comprehend the Scriptures. (Luke 24:45)
Pray for workers because the fields are ready for harvest and need more helpers. Ask the Lord of the harvest to send more people to work these fields. Pray to be one of these helpers too. The fields are ripening fast, so pray for new believers across the land to join God's kingdom.
Pray that when people hear the word, they receive it gladly and realize they need salvation. Pray they come to Jesus, confess their sins, and repent. Ask for more to move from darkness into the kingdom of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Let's keep praying during these times.
Don't just rest in victory; keep laboring fervently in prayer. Pray for all God's people, for the gospel to reach those who don't believe yet, and for many new salvations. We hope to see thousands and millions come into Christ's kingdom. In this way do we become a nation of Christians, a land filled with those who love Jesus.
We are here for such a time as this, let us redeem the time, making the most of it for the glory of the Lord.
Until next time, grace and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ…
