This newsletter will pray for the Word of God to run swiftly across the land and be glorified; pray for the seed to be sown on good soil, for workers to be sent to the harvest field, for ears to hear and eyes to see, for open doors; and may words may be given us to boldly proclaim the mystery of the Gospel.
Will you not revive us again so that your people may rejoice in you? Psalm 85:6
Paul, writing to the Colossians exhorts them, (and us) to continue steadfastly in prayer, and to pray for him also, that God would open a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ. May we make this a prayer for ourselves and each other—for an open door for the Word to increase.
Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, as happened among you, and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men. For not all have faith. - 2 Thessalonians 3:1-2 ESV
Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith. - Acts 6:7 NKJV
But the word of God grew and multiplied. - Acts 12:24 NKJV
So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed. - Acts 19:20 NKJV
O Mighty Lord, cause the message to go forth swiftly, let it proclaimed high, low, far, wide. Make our feeble, stumbling words mighty by your Spirit, that we all would speak as we ought, that Truth would prevail over lies, You would honored, and the number of believers would increase.
And when the Gentiles heard this, they [began] rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed. - Acts 13:48 LSB
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving; and pray for us also, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison, that I may make it clear, as I ought to speak. - Colossians 4:2-4 RSV
And when they arrived, they gathered the church together and declared all that God had done with them, and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles. - Acts 14:27 RSV
…for a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries. - 1 Corinthians 16:9 RSV
Now when I came to Troas for the gospel of Christ, and when a door was opened unto me in the Lord, - 2 Corinthians 2:12 ASV
Merciful Father, as you opened eyes and ears, let us cry this day for those blind to your glorious light and deaf to your holy Word, that you might open to Jesus. Cause these hearts to be good soil for the seed of your word, once sown, would grow root and bear fruit.
"But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. - Matthew 13:16 LSB
"And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the man who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty." - Matthew 13:23 LSB
What we most need in all the land is the Gospel, the good news that Christ came in the flesh and lived perfectly among us, taking our deserved place on the cross as a great sacrifice for sins, and giving us what we do not deserve, His mercy. If will will repent and believe, then we will be saved from the wrath to come.
Everyone we know and all those we don’t know need this good news preached and taught. This is evangelism, sharing this Word of Truth. This is what we are in prayers for! If there were many, many souls set free from the domain of darkness and transferred to the kingdom of Christ, then this whole land could be transformed.
Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. Luke 10:2b
Pray that dead souls will come alive in Christ—born again and raised to new life! We pray this for those who are perishing, certainly, but, let us dare not exempt ourselves from needing to be revived. The Church, first and most needs the Gospel, needs to awaken, come to our senses, return to the Lord, get right with Him, and renew our first love.
For those who have fallen away, or become dull or lukewarm, are with little faith or hope, our prayers are for our brothers and sisters in Christ, many of whom have drifted from true devotion to Christ, wandered into the ditch that lies either side of the narrow road that leads to life. Too many have adopted another gospel, which is really no gospel at all, and we pray for rescue, restoration, and revival!
May we be the heralds of the Good News, and may many more come to know, follow, obey, and love Jesus, again or for the first time. More grace. O Lord.
Until Monday, grace and peace
