Prayers From Paul
Wrapping up our list of Pauline prayers for the Church, which reveal for us the will God has for the assembly of His children
These are a few more prayers for the Church contained in the letters of Apostle Paul:
From Philippians 1:9-11 - And this I pray, that [our] love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that [we] may approve the things that are excellent, that [we] may be sincere and without offense [blameless] till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which [are] by Jesus Christ, to [your] glory and praise [O] God.
From Philippians 4:8-9 - Finally, [we pray that our fellowship that], whatever things are true, whatever things [are] noble, whatever things [are] just, whatever things [are] pure, whatever things [are] lovely, whatever things [are] of good report, if [there is] any virtue and if [there is] anything praiseworthy--[we would] meditate on these things.
Other Epistle Prayers from Paul:
1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 - May the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 - To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his call, and may fulfill every good resolve and work of faith by his power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Thessalonians 3:1-5 - Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed on and triumph, as it did among you, and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men; for not all have faith. But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from evil. And we have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things which we command. May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.
Colossians 4:2-3 - Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving; and pray for us also, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison…
Romans 10:1 - Dear brothers and sisters, the longing of my heart and my prayer to God is for the people of Israel to be saved.
We’ve shown in several previous posts how we pray these passages from Scripture (see here, here, and here), so we leave it to you to include these in your intercessions, highlighting key phrases and words as the Spirit leads. May your praying these bear fruit in your fellowship and in others all across the land.
These 20 prayers are by no means exhaustive, but they are a collection of prayers that our Almighty God has been hearing—and answering, regularly for generations. It’s our time to lift up these same requests to the Lord who is the same yesterday, today, and forever—that He might do the same in these days as then.
They do not get old and we cannot wear them out, so be bold to ask them day and night.
These prayers include for us a representation of the express and revealed will of our heavenly Father for His dear children, whom He will present spotless as a Bride to His beloved Son at the end of the age. Certainly they are not all the Lord wills for us, but we cannot pray outside the will of God by praying each one of these.
Until Monday, grace and peace
