More Bible Prayers for God's People
Peter shares with us praying for grace and knowledge, and John about praying according to His will
In a previous newsletter we listed seven prayers from Paul’s Epistles that are specifically for the people of God. In Bible Prayers for the Church, we noted that these Apostle Prayers are those God intends on answering, and is indeed answering them today, and as believers we should be praying these for other followers of Christ.
These prayers from the Scriptures reveal to us God’s own will for His people, then and now. We can count on these prayers because they come from His own Word. This is His Testimony, Will, and Covenant. We can approach the throne of grace and ask this or that be done according to this word: Father, you say here (ie. we are salt and light), and we ask you to fulfill this promise, and make us today to be salt and light.
This week we will add seven more to that list, this time from Peter and John. In their own letters, they prayed for their readers would grow in grace, knowledge, and be perfected in Christ.
1 Peter 4: 7-9
1 Peter 5: 10, 11
2 Peter 1: 2, 3
2 Peter 3: 18
1 John 1:7
1 John 3:22-23
1 John 5:14-15
Remember, these and many other prayer passages are prayers that the Lord loves to hear prayed, we cannot wear them out! They are promises He will answer if we will but A-S-K (ask, seek, knock).
Until Monday, grace and peace
