May God Open Doors For The Word
Praying for unbelievers to hear the Gospel message and be delivered from darkness
The “good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people” were first told by an angel of the Lord to some shepherds tending flocks in the fields. He told them of a baby born in nearby Bethlehem who is Christ the Lord.
As Luke shares the story, then “suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” - Luke 2:13-14 KJV
So what did these sheep-herders do? After the angels left, they said to one another “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” (verse 15, emphasis added)
The Lord opened a doorway from heaven to these simple men, and the angel who came told them the good news (evangelizing). This doorway gave them access, and it is God who will open access to share with others this same good news.
Paul referred to this numerous times. An example is 2 Corinthians 2:12, Furthermore, when I came to Troas to [preach] Christ's gospel, and a door was opened to me by the Lord…
Here, Paul is speaking of divine help for chances to spread the gospel of Christ.
Our Lord opens doors for us, and we can ask Him to do it: Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, Colossians 4:2-3.
We pray today for the Gospel to spread, leading to more conversions to the kingdom of Christ
There is upon us an extraordinary godlessness across the land. Many have forgotten God, and denied Him or defied Him! While there are many who still profess a faith in God and an attendance in a church, those numbers dwindle each year.
For a great many in our nation our love for Jesus has grown cold.
And for still many others, perhaps they have never heard the Gospel preached. They have only heard about the Gospel, or about Jesus from someone who has also heard from someone else. There are lots of stories they’ve been told.
But they may not fully understand or grasp the true message of the Gospel!
It’s a bit like believing you know all about a cruise because you heard about it from some who has been on one. Not having taken a cruise yourself, your views are limited and most likely your perceptions are, at least partially, incorrect. You’d have to have been on a ship in person and experienced it first hand to have real understanding.
Let us who have heard and believed this Good News pray for more opportunities, receptive ears, and open eyes. Pray that more around us both see and hear—perhaps for the first time, and believe what the angel told those shepherds.
Let’s be in prayer for the Word of God to spread across the land, for open doors for the Word to increase and result in new believers in Jesus.
Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith. Acts 6:7…But the word of God grew and multiplied. Acts 12:24…So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed. Acts 19:20
For a great and effective door has opened to me, and [there are] many adversaries. 1 Corinthians 16:9
Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run [swiftly] and be glorified, just as [it is] with you, and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith. 2 Thessalonians 3:1-2
Pray the unconverted would have ears to hear the message of the Gospel and repent, believe the Gospel and be delivered from the power of darkness and transferred to the kingdom of His Son. Colossians 1:13
Pray too, that the Lord to send a revival to even those who regularly attend church and would consider themselves followers of Jesus. May our hearts be revived into Him and stirred up anew to fervent prayers for the Church.
May God open His door to us again so this Word can be shared, for we are dependent on Him to prepare hearts and also circumstances for others to first hear, then be receptive to the proclamation of Christ as Savior and Lord.
Until next time, grace and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ…
Free will can be a tough thing to push through. It's so heartbreaking 💔 when the unconverted refuse to listen. I'm so glad for your post as we need to heighten awareness 🙏 in order to encouage more to pray for the eyes of the lost to open and stay open.....
